Spanning the vast landscapes of Mongolia and Russia, SUTRA is a journey through remote valleys, high mountain passes, vast open plains and unpredictable conditions. With long distances between settlements and constantly changing terrain, every rider must find their own way through the territory.

SUTRA is a self-supported, single-stage bikepacking race from Ulaanbaatar to Kyzyl. There is no fixed route. Riders follow a series of mandatory checkpoints and decide for themselves how to connect them. The clock never stops, there is no outside support, and every decision — from navigation and resupply to where to sleep and which road to take — is part of the race.

The route covers approximately 2,500km and 23,000m of climbing, crossing Mongolia and Russia and passing through some of the most remote landscapes of the region. Riders should expect gravel roads, tracks, mountain passes, river crossings, long stretches without resupply and rapidly changing weather.
